Rob's profile

Rob is a lifelong musician as well as recording engineer and music producer.  He started playing guitar in his teens, influenced by mulptiples genres: mainly the guitar style of Link Wray & David Ash, and psychedelic rock. As an adult, his musical studies expanded to gamelan, polyphonic time signatures, and tunings mainly influenced by Sonic Youth. His current work in RjVj is still within the postpunk genre but includes his studies of western and horror soundtracks, Kraftwerk and vintage synth driven music. For his work, he has created homemade instruments and samples from field recordings, and with RjVj, Rob has expanded to drum programming and synth sequences that are triggered by his bandmate, Veronica in performances.  Rob still loves guitar and the play of guitar synth sounds but is focusing more on synth work and composing synth pieces. He has been fortunate to collaborate with many musicians on stage, playing in the studio, and/ or recording musicians in the studio and assisting them with arrangements and composition as a producer. Rob's years of production and engineering work has expanded his own ear and musical growth in style.
As a Baltimore native, Rob has played in a variety of post-punk bands since 1989 (Amok Time, W.O.D., Estrojet, Scapegoat, Cicaeda, The Homosexuals, The Uniform, David Thomas of Pere Ubu) and he traveled as a live sound engineer with some of the city’s biggest bands like Beach House and Celebration. Since 1998, Rob has been producing and engineering bands and has worked at Wright Way Studios since 2011. He has recorded with Future Islands, Beach House (Beach House, Devotion, Used to Be - B-sides And Rarities), Jenn Wasner, Celebration, Bond Street District, Arbouretum, Jacober, Double Dagger, Tarotplane, Blacksage, Vosh, Natural Velvet, Wing Dam, Microkingdom, The Scotch Bonnets, and The Flying Eyes. Currently in addition to RjVj, Rob plays guitar in psych rock band, Mopar Mountain Daredevils. He records and mixes both bands at Wright Way Studios and his home studio, World Famous Studios.  A selected discography is at:
