Renz Balagtas is a first-generation Filipino American visual artist living and working in Baltimore, Maryland. He moved to San Diego, California with his father in 1996 when he was just 5 years old. In 2012, Renz transferred to the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) to pursue a career in arts. He graduated with a BFA in painting in 2014 and has since expanded his practice as a visual artist to include video. Since graduating, Renz has worked on several murals and community art projects. He is currently a fellow with Urban Arts Leadership and is focusing on program development for more art-based projects.
