 Melora holds a Master of Acupuncture (M.Ac.) from Notre Dame of Maryland University School of Integrative Health (formerly Maryland University of Integrative Health),  where she taught and practiced for many years, and a BFA from MICA, with a focus in painting.
During her undergraduate years, Melora studied art and art history in Florence, Italy, where she tried for three months to mix the perfect Pompeii red, to no avail. Her paintings and drawings are housed in private collections throughout the world.
In recent years, Melora has devoted her time to travel and writing. In 2025 she began her travel blog, earthonfoot.org, documenting her experiences traveling across the globe with her physicist husband. 
Melora is also a mother, runner, yogini, and wilderness saunterer.
