I paint in order to bear witness to the flimsy or precarious nature of the constructions we call reality.
After earning a BFA from MICA in 1976, I worked for the Baltimore City Mural program.
I lived in Mexico in 1979 to paint and study at Bellas Artes in San Miguel d’Allende.
In 1987 I attended the Catholic University in Washington D.C. to study Architectural Illustration.
I became an associate with Oishi and Assoc., Architects and Illustrators.
I was invited to work in the Baltimore County Planning Office, as part of a team of architects and planners to illustrate ideas for controlling development in Baltimore County.
In 1989 I enrolled in the ‘Summer in New York’ program at the School of Visual Arts.
Fellowships at Yaddo, the Hambidge Center, and the Vermont Studio Center.
I have received several grants and awards and have exhibited my work regularly in the Mid Atlantic region.
In 2007 I got my MFA from MICA and received the Toby Foundation Award.
I have taught painting and design at Goucher College, and painting at the Baltimore School for the Arts.
