After emigrating from England to the States in 1984, Matt has been a wanderer, living in Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Toledo, Buffalo, and Chicago before moving to Tokyo for three years and finally Baltimore. Through these travels, Matt has always sought expression through the medium of painting, film, photography and music. In 2007 Matt moved to Baltimore after completing his second trip around the world as an artist in residence on Japan's PEACEBOAT: Global Voyage, a Japanese NGO. While on PEACEBOAT, Matt taught art and made short documentary films. Now in Baltimore, Matt has found a space in his painting where he infuses ideas of peace, environmentalism, and consciousness into his work.
