Baker Artist Portfolios

Mar Julia is an award winning illustrator and cartoonist originally from South Florida, currently living and making work in Baltimore, MD. Their debut full-length graphic novel Brownstone in collaboration with Samuel Teer was released in 2024 from Versify and was awarded the 2025 Michael L. Printz Award for Excellence in Young Adult Literature from the American Library Association. Some past and current clients include Warner Brothers Animation, Penguin Random House, Little, Brown & Co., Versify/HarperAlley, Power & Magic Press, Latinographix, Sourcebooks, Baltimore Graphic Novel Festival, and the National Aquarium. They also organize and publish a yearly, queer comics anthology called Datura Magazine with their partner, Sunmi, which features a range of speculative and realist stories for an adult audience that looks to push the boundaries of gender and genre.
