Marisa Sheena Evangelista (b. 1998) was born in Thailand, but for most of her life, she grew up in Maryland, USA. Since she was young, she’d been interested in the nuances of human emotion. Marisa is on a long-term journey of exploring and translating human expressions that can push the narrative of bigger pictures existing beyond her paintings. While she uses herself as a reference for most of her painting, instead of viewing her work as self-portraits, she views herself as a character existing in a painted reality who is evoking certain emotions. In addition to figurative painting, she also enjoys landscape, still life painting, and more recently has been exploring digital painting. She is represented by Benfield Gallery in Severna Park.
