Levi's profile

Levi Coy (they/he) is a queer choreographer, director, performer, filmmaker, and educator whose work explores intimacy, identity, power, and transformation through movement and cinematic storytelling. Since graduating from Ball State University in 2019 with a BFA in Dance, Levi has relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, where they have become an active and evolving presence in the DMV dance community.

Levi’s performance career includes collaborations with companies such as Kinetics Dance Company, GRIDLOCK Dance, Extreme Lengths Productions, and Orange Grove Dance. Across these projects, they have developed a movement voice for themself grounded in physicality, often centering queer narratives, embodied memories, and the tension between vulnerability and control. Their choreographic work frequently investigates themes of masculinity, tenderness, connection, and the social frameworks that shape how bodies move, touch, and exist in space.

As an educator, Levi is deeply committed to cultivating curiosity, agency, and proprioceptive awareness in emerging artists. They serve as Adjunct Faculty in the Howard Community College dance program, where they mentor students in both technical and creative practices, and as an instructor and choreographer for the Kinetics Dance Theatre and their Youth Ensemble program. Levi approaches teaching as an extension of their artistic practice, prioritizing process, experimentation, and inclusive learning environments that honor diverse identities and ways of moving.

In recent years, Levi has become increasingly drawn to dance on film as an expansive and transformative medium. Through filmmaking, they explore the intersection of choreography and camera, using editing, and framing to extend movement beyond the stage. Their screen-based work seeks to reimagine how audiences experience dance, opening new possibilities for storytelling and access.

Rooted in queer expression, interdisciplinary collaboration, and an ongoing commitment to growth, Levi Coy continues to build work that challenges social norms, fosters connection, and invites audiences into bold, intimate, and evolving worlds of movement.
