Greetings and many thanks for viewing and considering my work. To be judged is always a humbling experience and I have not been brave enough to display my work over the years. However, this year I have had some life changing experiences and feel the time is now to express life through what I love, visual arts.
I am a former student of both Tyler School of Art and Philadelphia University (college of textiles and sciences). I had to put my education on hold to beginning helping provide for my family but the love of art has never died and has been practiced in some form or fashion. I love graphite and charcoal, I have began painting. I dabble in photography, and sculpting. I am a part time dj, professional contract security officer for the us government in two buildings, and freelance artist to all who enjoy my art. I am in the process of trying to purchase my first home with enough space for a studio. I have found that having two jobs and many side assignments is a great way to save, although it can be very tiring. We had a book store at Temple called "The Starving Artist", that phrase has been circulating around the community for years. When I began school I was starving for education, then the term starving changed for me. Now that I am a little more financially stable I can explore where my art can take me. This year has not been without its struggles but many of the pieces the struggles inspired compelled me to share and submit for judgment. If I am chosen as winner, it would be the proudest moment in my life, not only because it would demonstrate acceptance in the field that I love but also because I would have funds for my first home.
Thank you again and I am sure you will enjoy the entries of all. Good luck to my fellow artist.
