Frances's profile
Jupiter Rex combines the eccentric artistry of Baltimore-based music duo FRANKI3 and Griffin Murphy. They play in bold experiments of sound, rewriting the rules of studio recording with a fearless approach to music creation that refuses to settle for the ordinary. Specializing in handmade experimental music gear and delving into the depths of studio recording; Jupiter Rex creates projects that challenge convention and ignite curiosity—all while being catalysts for change in producing Baltimore’s up and coming music artists. Some of the notable artists that they’ve collaborated with is Tariq Ravelomanana of “Infinity Knives and Brian Ennals” on their groundbreaking project “A City Drowned In God’s Black Tears”, Eyas on their debut project "Quiet-Loud", Tek.Lun, Sleepy Sword, and many more. They are redefining what it means to record and produce music in the city, all while providing affordable, high-quality studio time with using what they have, to those who need it the most.
Operating from their small but booming basement studio, Jupiter Rex offers a unique, experimental approach to recording that empowers both themselves and other artists. Imagine gritty breadboard synthesizers buzzing to life, unconventional vintage effects scattered across the studio floors, or the sound of a slinky stretched and recorded directly into the board. With Jupiter Rex's experimental tinkering, no sound is off-limits—it’s all potential waiting to be shaped into something spectacular.
