Baker Artist Portfolios

I create images of nature with threads, which I call thread drawings. I use this medium because it expresses the complexity of nature better for me that pencils or paint.
I love to travel and so quite often the pictures are my impressions of actual places of where I have been: the colors on an Indian street; the barreness of a tree in the African Bush or the floating plants along the tributaries of the Amazon.
I was born and raised in Baltimore, going to University of Maryland where I ended up in the theater program. For my professional life, I was a props artisan, teaching props at a New York university and freelancing in the area. I enjoyed it until it got exhausting. Now I am back in Baltimore with time to create what I want. I love what I am doing.
