John's profile

I have produced art, consistently, since childhood. I found academic art education very rewarding, and have also greatly valued my years of post-academic creative production.
Ranging in all manners of theory and content, I have always been prolific.
I'm working on a grand sensibility which will unite my productions in all media.
All technical finitudes within all media are affecting my narrative process and all in conjunction with the "existentialism" involved.
These are great months of both painting and videoography.
Presently, the conversion of my older analogue work is under way, and the work should be ready for inclusion into the overall intermedia synthesis :

For some years now digital play, informal or formal, has had an effect of conceptual influence on my more analogue processes. This is in terms of vast and quick changes in areas of color, and in attempts at letting painterly narrative or structural elements keep pace with the quickness of their conceptualization.

Along the way I've bridged digital phenomena of pixelization, and its audio equivalent, with more traditional processes and manners of seeing.

The minutia and the grandeur of video work has tied into this, with occasional image degradation even playing a role. A partially disintegrated video passage may, or indeed may not, bridge some key gap, in terms of narrative and-or in terms of medium-based self-reflaction. For me, now, all phenomena of media self-reflection are also phenomena of human perception itself.

Everything is quality. A passage may be conspicuously post-digital, and conspicuously reflective of montage, but, then again, a perfect still, strong, may be "Classical" all the way.

These phenomena are true of paintings as well, and of fiction, and so on, but video puts an emphasis on all of this, with infinitely subtle permutative options, over time.
