Jarod Hanson (he/they) is a Baltimore-based theatre artist and educator dedicated to actor-centered, ensemble theatre. He is a certified Margolis Method teacher and serves as Lead Faculty at the Margolis Method Center Int’l in upstate New York. He has an MFA in Theatre from Towson University where he focused on further developing his pedagogy and practice of creating empowering, embodied theatre. He has toured and taught internationally. Jarod has been a proud member of the MB ADAPTORS Company since 2004, with whom he recently remounted Flight, an acclaimed solo show originally commissioned for the 2024 Provincetown Tennessee Williams Festival. He has contributed to the creation of several original company productions including Sleepwalkers, The Human Show, American Safari, Cyclopedia, Pulling Strings, Insula, and Headshot. He is also a member of Baltimore’s premiere experimental theatre company, the Acme Corporation. Recent professional collaborations include: Machinal at Fells Point Corner Theater, Green Eyes, Suddenly Last Summer, and Baal & Dix with Die-Cast, The Lights Went Out Because of a Problem, The First Thing That Happens and Putin on Ice with The Acme Corporation, Paradise Lost and The Electric Baby at Towson University, Minor Character and Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play at the Wilma Theater, Close Your Eyes and Sleep with Truepenny Projects, Pride and Prejudice at the Peabody Institute, and Overtime: Men at Work at the Minnesota Fringe. His short play Sweven was a regional semi-finalist at the KCACTF Region 2 festival’s National Playwriting Program. Jarod received a Fellowship from the Center for International Theatre Development (CITD) from 2018-2020 and continues to contribute to CITD projects. He is the Treasurer of the Association of Theatre Movement Educators and has presented his research on Trauma Informed Practice in Actor Training at the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) Conference in Austin, TX and the Margolis Method Int’l Conference in Minneapolis, MN.
