Jessica's profile

I was born and raised in Baltimore City (East Ave, Fleet St, Madeira St, etc). I sadly moved to the suburbs when I was about 13. I have always been involved in art in some way or another. As a child I drew and painted constantly; It wasn't until i was about 12 that i started branching out and trying to find myself artistically. I started in oils and was initially trained in classic lanscapes, but after having kids transitioned to acrylics for their ease, cost and low fumes. In middle and high school I explored more conceptual forms of art. A passion for photography was probably instilled in me at a very young age, with the fact that my father was a photographer; but it wasn't until college and my first taste of freedom that my eyes were opened to all the amazing possibilites at my fingertips. Photography has been my lifeline in many senses. Documenting a fleeting moment, or capturing and conceptualizing an emotion has become somewhat of an obsession for me. I am self taught in all aspects of photography and processing and continually strive to push myself past my comfort zone.

I have recently begun a series of conceptualizing great women of literature, myth, history and art. The series was kicked off with "Ophelia" then "Joan of Arc" and many more to come. This project is very dear to me and something I am truly passionate about.
