Jenny's profile
Growing up in the city of Baltimore, I was always aware of screen painting. In 1998 I taught myself this art form. With the influences of a 20 year career in the darkroom of The Walters Art Museum, I believe I add another aspect to the tradition of painted screens by creating work that is a combination of the folk art and the realism of the Great Masters.
Costuming is another aspect of my art. A yearly participation in The Coney Island Mermaid parade allows my skills to be shown not only with one elaborate costume but also in the making of 20+ costumes for the participants of my troupe.
Combining my costume making skills with screen painting I came up with painted screen clothing, I take a working class art form to haute couture by creating one of a kind wearable art.
My career is my art and working with art. When I?m not painting, or creating costumes, I continue with my photography skills in scanning, archiving and taking photos.
