Frank's profile
The universal themes I attempt to address in my abstract and figurative paintings are:
truth, uncertainty, identity, leave taking and memory. I utilize color, form
and texture. Words are sometimes used as an integral part in many of the abstract paintings in the form of script, printing or text. They sometimes
give a clue to the ideas expressed.
The inspiration for these philosophical meditations in paint can come from a
phrase, a fragment, music, current events and influences of the abstract
expressionists of the last century. My goal is to engage the viewer by
raising questions and encouraging thought and contemplation on the
human condition.
The materials used include: oil, acrylic, charcoal, crayon, pencil, watercolor,
gouache, newsprint, cardboard and collage.
