Fatima's profile
Fatima Wardy is a Sudanese filmmaker, raised in the UK and currently based in Baltimore. Her artistic practice focuses on utilizing the poetics of the short film medium to develop a visual language that is attentive diasporic existence; examining moments of connection and disconnection in the everyday lives of immigrants.
Wardy's upcoming short film 'White Musk', is a mother-daughter drama that explores the nature of caregiving. The script was developed at Berlinale Talents Short Form Station 2024 and has received funding from Sundance Institute, The Islamic Scholarship Fund, Sharjah Art Foundation and the Austin Film Society. Previously, she directed the SXSW-winning short film 'Hair Care'.
As a passionate champion of Sudanese cinema, she regularly participates in screenings and programs that introduce this body of work to new audiences.
