Eileen's profile

Eileen O’Donnell is a Baltimore-based multidisciplinary artist whose primary practice is figurative ceramic sculpture. Working with clay for over twenty years, she creates psychologically charged sculptural forms that explore visibility, belief, ritual, and the interior lives of women.

In 2026, O’Donnell was awarded a Maryland State Arts Council Creativity Grant to support the construction of a large-scale figurative sculpture, marking a significant expansion of her practice. She is also a 2025 Saul Zaentz Innovation Fund Fellow and a participant in the Robert W. Deutsch Foundation Mentorship Program (2025–26) with artist Jeffrey Kent.

O’Donnell’s background in film—as a cinematographer and production designer—informs her approach to staging and psychological presence in sculpture. She teaches Foundations of Handbuilding at Baltimore Clayworks and lives and works in Baltimore.
