Cori's profile
As a producer, Cori aims to tell the forgotten stories of immigrants, Asians and Asian Americans, particularly those of the Pilipino diaspora. Through APAC, she has commissioned and produced several new works by Asian and Asian American playwrights and screenwriters. In 2018, she commissioned Filipino-American playwright Katelynn Kenney to write a children’s show grounded in Southeast Asian and Pacific Indigenous mythology. Tornkid was first produced in May of 2019 at Cohesion Theater Company in Baltimore. It was later produced that summer at The Tank’s Ladyfest in New York City.
In February of 2022, she helped produce Alexandra Palting’s one-woman muscial 0874: A Filipino-American Love Story at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. In May of 2022, Cori co-produced the AAPI Women’s Voices Theater Festival at the Strand Theater, which featured six new plays written by six female Asian and Asian American playwrights.
In 2023 Cori created her own one-person show entitled Crisis Mode: Living Pilipino in America. The piece centers on her three major identity crises as a Filipino Immigrant American exploring the forgotten stories of her ancestors and re-assessing her own identity as both Filipino and American. Through Filipino dance, movement and music, Cori weaves the history of the Philippines with her own experiences growing up an immigrant in the United States. The project is currently being developed into a one-person trilogy entiteled The Crisis Trilogy.
As a certified arts integration specialist, Cori uses the arts to engage students as they learn core curriculum and empower them to share their stories and actively participate in social change. She received her training and certification in arts integration from the Teaching Artist Institute. Cori also trained with Wolf Trap’s Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts and is a recent artist fellow of Arts Every Day’s Baltimore Arts Integration Project, which uses the Brain Target Teaching Methodology created by Dr. Mariale M. Hardiman.
Cori is a member of SAG-AFTRA and an Equity Member Candidate. As a trained actor, she has worked on stage and in film and television, most notably appearing on screen in Marvel/Netflix's hit series Daredevil and Season 2 of New Amsterdam.
