Camila's profile
Camila Leão (b. 1990) is a Brazilian-born, Baltimore-based multimedia artist working across fine art, murals, public art, and illustration. Raised between the urban pulse of São Paulo and the lush Atlantic Forest of Boracéia, she developed a lifelong reverence for nature that continues to guide her work.
A musician herself, Leão infuses her paintings with rhythmic energy and dynamic movement. Her work is known for vivid palettes, and a harmonious balance between abstraction and form. Drawing inspiration from Brazilian fauna, flora, and cultural memory, her art celebrates biodiversity, identity, and the deep interconnection between humans and the natural world.
Her creative practice extends beyond the studio, with public commissions and collaborations that celebrate community and place. She has created large-scale murals across the country, participating in festivals such as NoMa in Color, Sunny Dayz Mural Festival, and BRUSH Mural Fest. In 2024, she received a Baltimore County Executive Citation for her contributions to public art.
Leão holds a BA in Graphic Design from Centro Universitário SENAC (São Paulo, Brazil, 2013). Her practice also expands into design and illustration, including a home goods collection with Geometry House and editorial illustrations featured in Baltimore Magazine. Her pieces have been exhibited and collected both locally and internationally, reflecting her evolving dialogue between heritage, environment, and contemporary expression.
