Beth-Ann's profile
Beth-Ann Wilson (American, b. Copiague, NY 1983, lives and works in Baltimore, MD) is an award-winning artist, gallery owner, creative entrepreneur, educator, and community organizer whose multidisciplinary practice bridges the realms of fine art, education, and community engagement. Her work explores the interplay of vivid abstraction and expressive realism, focusing on painted portraits, energetic landscapes, and dynamic cityscapes. Whether created en plein air or in her studio, Wilson’s scenes are inspired by her extensive travels, reflecting a deep connection to the environments she encounters. Her most recent solo exhibition (November 2024) L'Appel du Vide, was a painterly reflection on her time at the Chateau Orquevaux Artist Residency in Orquevaux, France.
As the founder and director of Night Owl Gallery, an artist-run exhibition space in Baltimore, MD, Wilson has cultivated a vibrant platform for creativity and inclusivity. Now in its eighth year, the gallery has grown into a 4000-square-foot hub for artistic innovation, featuring expanded artist studios and exhibition spaces. Under Wilson’s leadership, Night Owl Gallery has become a cornerstone of the Baltimore/DC metro area’s creative community, offering opportunities for artists from underrepresented backgrounds and fostering a spirit of collaboration and growth.
In addition to her work as a gallery owner, Wilson is an adjunct professor at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where she teaches Creative Entrepreneurship. Her teaching reflects her passion for empowering emerging artists to navigate the intersections of art and business, equipping them with the tools to thrive in today’s creative economy.
Wilson’s contributions extend beyond her personal practice and professional endeavors to her role as a community organizer. She spearheads projects that bring people together, nurture artistic expression, and address social issues through the lens of creativity. Her efforts have been instrumental in fostering a thriving cultural ecosystem in Baltimore.
When not immersed in her artistic and professional pursuits, Wilson finds inspiration in outdoor adventures, vegan cooking, and the simple joys of life—like an afternoon IPA at a local dive bar. She lives in Baltimore with her husband and their two beloved (if slightly stinky) dogs, embodying a life rich in creativity, connection, and exploration.
