Ayako Kataoka's profile

Ayako Kataoka is an interdisciplinary artist originally from Tokyo. Her work is a study of space, perception, sound, movement, and Japanese Mythology. Her projects range in medium from sound and dance performance, to sculpture, video and installation. Her work has been exhibited, performed, and screened nationally and internationally at venues such as; Electrogals Festival (PDX), Museruole: The Museum of Modern & Contemporary Art Bolzano ITALY (IT), Opensignal Festival (RI), San Francisco International Arts Festival (SF), The Stone (NYC), Tokyo International Dance Video Festival (JP), and Transmodern Festival (Baltimore). From 2010-2013, Kataoka served as a curator of the High Zero Foundation and co-organized High Zero Festival, the annual international festival for music, film, and dance in Baltimore, MD, USA. Kataoka holds an MFA from Mills College, Oakland, CA.
