Armita 's profile
Armita Salehkhou is a multimedia artist from Tehran, Iran, currently pursuing her BFA in general fine arts at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore. With a background in graphic design from Saba Art Highschool, she has developed an interdisciplinary practice spanning painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, woodworking, and mixed-media installation. Salehkhou's work examines the psychological tension between chaos and control, drawing from personal memory, cultural identity, and the emotional residue of lived experience. through layered compositions, fragmented figure, and symbolic imagery, she transforms internal states into visual narrative that confront themes of displacement, resilience, and the complexities of the human psyche.
As an Iranian Woman and immigrant Salehkhou's practice is deeply informed by the sociopolitical realities of her upbringing and the cultural transition of migration. Her work often merges raw expression with conceptual reflection, creating emotionally charged environments that invite viewers to engage with vulnerability, resistance and transformation. She approaches art-making as both a visceral release and a form of storytelling, one that gives shape to uphold or suppressed emotional realities.
Salehkhou's work has been exhibited in the United States and Iran, including at MICA and prominent venues such as Milad Tower and Entezami Gallery. She is a recipient of a MICA scholarship recognizing her artistic excellence and commitment to exploration across material, sound, and space.
