Adam's profile
Adam G Holofcener (AGH, He/They) is a composer and performer from Baltimore, MD, USA. Their work ebbs and flows between digital and analog efforts with an emphasis on a synergistic interplay between the two: one informing the other, literally and otherwise, ad infinitum. The theoretical underpinnings for their work come from a variety of sources but have focused as of late on interventions via what they are calling Prefigurative Musics. By making collective works that anticipate imaginaries of better tomorrows, AGH hopes to contribute to the phantom zhuzh of the electorate that has the whole darn body politic stumble toward their collective embrace of a world they deserve to steward. Here’s hoping!
While they have been in numerous bands, they currently act as bandleader/primary composer of the collective known as MOWDER OYAL. They also make music as a solo guitarist/synthesist. Don't forget about the experimental country music they made!
In addition to the normative-ish band/solo performer stuff, AGH has also built sound installations and composed music for museum/gallery spaces.
In addition to his artistic practice, AGH also: 1) acts as the Executive Director of Maryland Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, a non-profit organization that provides pro bono legal services to local artists, 2) does legals and such for Mississippi Records, and 3) is a dad and husband. They also play a lot of tennis!
