At a french immersion school, Vox gave 2 performances: one in English, and the other in French.

These enthusiastic children were at an assembly in Hollywood, CA. The most popular question after hearing Victoria Vox play ukulele and mouth trumpet: "How do you do that with your mouth"!?

At the request of the Avalon Foundation in Easton, MD, Victoria Vox visited seventeen 4th-grade classrooms to give them a brief introduction to the ukulele, and it's history, to prepare them for the concert at the Avalon Theatre by the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. Here, Vox performed with members of the UOGB.

Through residencies and after-school programs, children have the opportunity to learn and play the ukulele. It's fun, easy, and gives them confidence to have their own voice.

The NZ Ukulele Trust has included a Victoria Vox original song, "The Bird Song", in their songbook for teaching children the ukulele. At the 8th annual ukulele festival in Auckland, New Zealand, Vox was invited to perform her song with 2500 "Kiwileles", who traveled from all over the country to sing together for a one-hour performance. The NZ Ukulele Trust brings music and instruments to children in New Zealand, regardless of the school's economic status.

Written on a tenor ukulele, Victoria Vox uses the reverse pedal for this upbeat dance song. This song was a re-write from Victoria's Week 36 song, "Dancefloor", from the 52 Song Project. During the 52 Songwriting Project, Victoria Vox embarked on an electronic (with the baritone ukulele) project, "uketronica" later to become Boombox Séance. Vox composed all of the ukulele tracks and composed the chord progressions and then collaborated with Aaron English (Seattle), James Hall (Atlanta), and Jim Troglen (Birmingham) on lyrics and melodies. Once the idea of an album was in place, Vox focused her later songwriting from the 52 Song Project on Boombox Séance. Boombox Séance gave a new, and undiscovered, facet to the ukulele. With the use of looping and effects pedals, anything was possible, and the juxtaposition of the ukulele and deeply lyrical, dark electronic sounds, was created. Layered parts and textures became the signature sound for Boombox Séance.

Text from Song Post: Week 39: Crazy Love (written and uploaded October 19, 2012) This one poured out of me like a river this morning. It was written in about 15 minutes, with some tweaking during the recording. I was going to add bass and shaker and other things, but decided to keep it super simple and raw. I’m not sure if the title should be “Crazy, Love” or “Crazy Love”. I guess I’ll leave it up to the listener as to when and where to put the comma :) I put off writing this song for about 4 weeks, but didn’t think anyone (ahem, my subscribers) wanted to hear it. I had to remind myself of one of my rules for the project: That I would not care if the subscribers liked it or not. It’s out there now... and I’m done with it. I played my Mya-Moe Flying V.2 and sang. Side Note: This song was re-recorded for the 2013 album, Key.

The 4-stringed ukulele beautifully comes with many limitations, however, with looping and "playing with" the tone, new ideas (songs) can emerge.

Text from Song Post: Week 30: Guarded Heart (uploaded July 31, 2012) “Guarded Heart” came to me around Friday… and I ended up reading some guy’s blog about his guarded heart… it was a long drawn out story, but in some ways, I could relate both as the guarded one, and the one who’s love wasn’t reciprocated. I played: MyaMoe Ukulele (low G), Morton Iodized Salt (as the shaker), upright toy piano, bass, and sang. Side Note: This song was re-recorded for the 2013 album, Key.

Text from Song Post: Week 52: Wildwood (written and uploaded Dec. 26, 2012) Gosh… what an emotional day. ‘Tis the Season, right? Writing “Wildwood” this morning was really tough, mostly because I couldn’t sing / write it without breaking down into tears. Not exactly sad tears, nor happy tears… just tears. Wildwood has been “home” to the family for 40 years… As long as I remember, we had a beautiful Christmas tree in the living room, a roaring fire, the player piano going, board games galore, kids sliding down the banister, billiards on the 3rd floor, wonderful foods being made in the kitchen (thanks Grandma), and a beautiful spread in the formal dining room. In December 2011, we had our final Wildwood Christmas. Soon after, the house was put on the market. It has a steep price tag, so there haven’t been many bites. I would buy it in a heartbeat… if I could. I just need that hit song! Anyways, It didn’t really hit me that things were changing until yesterday. I had Christmas dinner with my grandparents and my mom at the kitchen table. No tree. No big dinner. No fire. Grandpa still turned on the player piano though :) “Big Spender” is his favorite song to play on it. I know that one by heart. When I first arrived, my cousin Courtney and his wife Lizzy were playing backgammon in the corner where the tree normally stood. I picked up the glockenspiel by the piano and said, “I feel a song coming on”… and that was that. It’s such a beautiful house… but with most of my grandparent’s belongings moved out, the place feels empty and not like the usual “Wildwood”. We were so lucky to have had a place like that to gather, as family. I played the family player piano for this number. It’s really out of tune... but it’s just perfect that way. Also… I could be slightly emotional as this is my FINAL song of the year. #52. THE END. I don’t think it has hit me yet. It’s been an amazing opportunity, and THANK YOU for it.
