Baltimore handyman John Decker once accepted a guitar as payment for some work he did on a house. It wouldn’t be until years later that he really understood why he was meant to have that musical instrument. We hear John’s story, we meet his new musical collaborator, Red Sammy, and we listen to him play his vintage 1931 National Resonator Guitar.

Red Sammy’s latest work blends the simplicity of song with poetic sensibilities. It takes the listener/reader on a nostalgic joyride through broken, urban thoughts and visceral landscapes. Singer/songwriter, Adam Trice, interlaces eight word-driven songs with true stories (in poem form) by poet and University of Baltimore professor, Steve Matanle. Greed, dependence, lust, acceptance, the false hope of perfection are all pit stops along the way.

On September 21st, 2012, Red Sammy performed live with poet, Steve Matanle. The rock band interlaced their songs with poems from Matanle's book, Nightbook, and other collections.
