About Kafi

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Kafi first began to take an interest in
photography on Assategue Island, Maryland in the mid 1990?s after
shooting with a throw away camera. She began studying with fine art
photographer, Joseph Hyde of Baltimore, MD in 2001 and is currently

Men in Music

My photography career began photographing musicians on the East Coast. Black and white film and digital was my first love. Kelly Bell Blues Band, DJ Kode Bleu, Scotty Paynter of Jah Works, Ice-T and Ernie C.

We Are Here: Urban Elders

This is a small documentation for the purpose of historical preservation of some of the elders in the predominantly, Lumbee, Native American tribe located here in Baltimore City, Maryland. They have a thriving community that began in the 1950's and 1960's in the Fells Point area. This community centers around the Baltimore American Indian Center, The Baltimore American Indian Heritage Museum and the South Broadway Baptist Church.
