About Justin

Baltimore City

Nether is a Baltimore born/based street artist and mural painter driven by rouge beautification and strategic action aimed at sparking conversation on ignored issues & neighborhoods. In a broken city radical actions are needed to bring attention to ignored urban issues and help cement our cities threatened subcultures. Many of pieces that you find around the city dignify and bring attention to marginalized communities and the forces that have brought the city to its current state.... more

greenmount addiction mural nether bmore baltimore
Greenmount & 25th Street A woman stands in water, half submerged, holding a withering lotus flower as the sky, lit by a rising sun and a setting moon, pans from darkness to light. The lotus in this setting symbolizes strength and courage when getting through life's hardest obstacles such as addiction. The character is trying to save the lotus, which reflects her beauty and strength, as it is losing its pedals into the darkness. Her half-hidden face is slightly turned towards the light showing that she is turning towards help to revive her inner beauty and spirit.

  • The Mountain Top

Diamond Auto Spa (W. North Avenue & Division Street) The self-proclaimed supreme righteousness and simultaneous need for reform/reclamation in the U.S. Justice System as it currently stands hypocritically presenting a major obstacle for the movement for African-American justice, or as King put it, “The Mountain Top". Lady Justice/blind justice, pirated from Egypt's ISIS and Maat, represents the misguided Justice system although it's imagery demonstrates the drive of the protests.

  • Arabber's Mural: Skeeter and Fatback (RIP)

    arabbers nether mural west baltimore
"Fatback and Skeeter" Arabber's Stables Fremount Avenue The two Arabbers Fatback and Skeeter on a shipping container similar to the ones used to import fruits to the Fremont Stables. The logo on the side of the container remains. The emblem in the center is a prized saddle emblem from Amish country that Fatback showed me a few years back at the Carlton Stables. To the left of Skeeter is a Baltimore City wagon permit, which throughout history has been fought for during different attempts to disenfranchise the Arabbers.
  • Survival Mural

Monroe Street x Laurens Street Referencing Mohammad Ali's "float like a butterfly sting like a bee" line which can speak to tactics of civil disobedience and strategic planning used by activists to achieve a goal. Also bees, which pollinate are crucial to the life of every species. They are currently facing extinction due to the ignorance in which humans have acted. Much thanks to Kwame Rose, KX, and Eubie Blake
  • Freddie Gray Mural

At the intersection where Freddie Gray was illegally arrested. Mount St & Presbury Street. Painting this mural has been one of the realest experiences of my life and I am excited that this wall marks a new beginning. Much love to the Sandtown / Gilmore Homes community for pushing this movement and mural to happen and being incredibly supportive along the way.
