    Rex XXX
My alter ego, Rex Skyscraper, is a hyper sexual celebrity with an affinity for canines. The bottle for his new cologne is a phallic representation of a dog bone, designed in SketchUp and fabricated in glazed ceramic.
  • Thank You
    Thank You
Using photos of marshmallows, gummy bears, and frosting that I “stole” from classmates, I made heart shaped thank you cards with interactive typography I developed as well as a mix of songs about sugar.
  • Modernism
    Modernism
As a senior in the Corcoran’s Graphic Design BFA program, I co-art-directed this timeline in conjunction with the exhibition Modernism: Designing A New World 1914–1939 at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. The timeline was featured in Step Magazine, and received Step’s award for excellence.
  • Rainbow Brains
    Rainbow Brains
While working at Fuszion, I created this motion piece for the Art Directors Club of Metropolitan Washington for a Career Day event at the Corcoran College of Art + Design. It features my brains exploding into a rainbow.

This poster was designed for an exhibition about the American South’s most important writers. I was asked to design a poster featuring a typographic interpretation of the text of Ernest Gaines.

    Elective Procedures
After receiving Lasik surgery I had to constantly apply eye drops. While photographing myself, the eye drops made me look like I was crying in one photo. I created this series by digitally altering this single shot in a variety of ways.

My trip to the Beijing Aquarium was both alienating and awe inspiring. The sign above the Aquarium cafeteria said, “Hao Wei Dao” or “Good Flavor Island.” The photographs I took there inspired this self-portrait.

Inspired by my childhood love affair with video games, this self-portrait evokes contemporary hyper-violent video games in a terrifying and humorous explosion of sensory overload.

Have Balls Get Tested

I received a fellowship with MICA’s Center for Design Practice (CDP) in partnership with the Baltimore City Health Department to increase HIV testing among African American men who have sex with men (MSM). Research led the CDP to identify Baltimore’s “ball scene” as a key influence within this community.

The ball scene is a national underground LGBT subculture in which people compete for trophies and prizes at events known as “balls.” Those who compete perform by walking down a runway, dancing, and vogueing while others compete in various specialized genres of drag, often trying to pass as an individual of a specific gender or social class. These posters feature photographs of individuals from Baltimore’s ball scene wearing red crossed bandaids as a symbol of solidarity in a community where getting tested has become stigmatized. They will be placed throughout the city to create AIDS awareness and promote regular testing.

I worked on the conception, design, and production of the posters. I specifically came up with the tagline for the campaign (Have Balls, Get Tested), art directed the photo shoots, and did the photo editing and retouching.

The final product is the result of the efforts of a number of individuals:

Eat Yourself™ — Illustrations

Eat Yourself™ is a game for smartphones and tablets about a flying pig who eats himself in the pursuit of peace, freedom and happiness.

Pinky the Pig discovers the Universal Truth — eating food is MURDER! The solution? He must avoid eating food, and eat himself instead. Then he can transcend this pig-eat-pig world and become spirit pig! With the help of Boris the Ouroboros, guide Pinky through an onslaught of adorably anthropomorphic food, and destroy Eat Inc.’s army of evil snack dispensing airships! Will you overcome glutinous evil, or give in to temptation and savagely devour your cute foodie friends?

In addition to designing, illustrating, and developing the game, I am creating a variety of supplemental materials including: a series of short comics that tell the story of Pinky; a typeface that reflects the game's happy/disgusting aesthetic; a collection of paper toys featuring Pinky and the other Eat Yourself™ characters; and a line of promotional merchandise (bibs, lunch boxes, aprons, etc).
