    Community Improvisation Jam_June 2015
Started in September 2010 by Nicole A. Martinell, monthly improvisations jams invite all artists and passionate improvisers to explore, react in the moment, and meet friends for future collaborations. Participants are asked to follow one guideline: when you enter the space, you are fully committed to the jam session through moving, play- ing, drawing, meditating - basically being aware! Settings set the groundwork for future collaborations.... "The sheer creative joyful weirdness, the musicality and the physical grace made for an intoxicating mixture." (Mark Chello, musician).

During my 11 years working in the field of architecture I have worked on buildings pictured here. At age 18, I was working for Peter Fillat Architects and developing conceptual models of several future buildings. Several years later I left downtown Baltimore to work for ADW in Towson. Then in 2005 I returned to Harbor East and began working for Beatty Harvey Architects. As a construction architect, I worked on the Vue Condos, Landmark Theater and the Hilton/ Homewood Suite Hotel. In 2007 work was started on the Legg Mason and Four Seasons Buildings. Photo Courtesy of Rick Preski

Deconstructured Sections

The installation â??Deconstructured Sectionsâ? consists of both two and three dimensional facades depicting European architecture that is of interest to me as a sculptor and an architect. I have experimented with large scale photos in this installation as well as architectural forms. The sculptures consist of fragmented layers of photographic collage in order to communicate a spatial depth. The goal in photographing the architecture was to capture modern and traditional along side eachother. The installation is an amalgamation of styles and it has brought together my career as an architect, my thirst for travel and expansion, and my love of the three-dimensional arts.

Sculpture Concepts 2

Computer rendered concepts for future construction. While my new sculpture studio was under construction, I had the chance to design new sculpture concepts thru AutoCad. My vision for 2011 is to fabricate these concepts on a larger scale with a wide range of materials. One concept included the use of laminated glass photographs supported by stainless steel stuctures. Architectural mesh and custom art glass panels are other possible infill panels being considered.

ARchitectural Interaction

Architectural Interactions.

Curated by the world renowned sculptor, John Henry, This exhibition will explore the perceptual and conceptual relationship between art and architecture through the design technologies both share. It will obscure the lines between functional architecture and sculpture, as well as concept and reality, to ultimately challenge the perception of static works. This exhibition will utilize interactive components by incorporating a new, evolving technology known as ?augmented reality.? Through the use of a wearable computer or handheld device, such as a smart phone, the audience has the ability to interact with sculpture and architecture through a looking glass. These augmentations utilize overlaid realities that are visible only through the electronic device which allows the audience to control their own interaction. Interaction is central to this exhibition, as it will encourage this concept to grow and generate new ideas and perceptions. Here, imagination is the tool and technology is the vehicle to transcend disciplinary interests by reaching beyond the restrictions of traditional art and architecture, photography and design, concept and reality. The sculptural forms that evolve from this project will be innovative while the conceptual dimension of the pieces will evoke life and expression. With the use of sculptural forms as a canvas and computer inputs for media, this project will help fuse the connections between art, architecture and the digital world.
