Sara 's profile

Sara Grose (b. 1992, Walkersville, MD) is an interdisciplinary artist living and working in Baltimore, MD. She holds a BFA in Interdisciplinary Sculpture from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Sara’s practice is concerned with expanding the role of the artist and the limits of art making; leading her to extra-curricular curatorial and collaborative projects. Including: Lil’ Gallery, an artist-run exhibition space she co-founded and co-directed from 2014-2015 and Resort Studios, an artist work space focused on providing affordable spaces for local artists. Sara’s work responds to the more frivolous notions of American culture as they stand against larger existential bullies: apocalyptic threats, cosmic interference, overstimulation. Her most recent project (Celestial, Terrestrial, 2018) was a two night event at the Maryland Space Grant Observatory at Johns Hopkins University. The exhibition sought to bridge the gap between Baltimore’s art and science communities while providing a platform for critical discussion of our relationship to, and place within the cosmos.
