Joyce's profile

If my DNA were to be analyzed, there would probably be threads wrapped around my genes.  I come from a long line of Lithuanian tailors and seamstresses. I started by making traditional quilts but moved into the art quilt/mixed media realm in 2010.  People respond to fabric -- it is familiar and tactile and warm -- but what I value most about fabric is its versatility.  It can tell so many stories, so many feelings.

I have a BA from Notre Dame of Maryland with a major in English and minors in Art and Music.  My career started as secretary to teacher to writer/producer of educational videos.  Currently I am a full-time resident artist at the Howard County Center for the Arts.  Some of my work has been included in Jane Dunnewold's "Cross Training for Artist", hung in the mayor's office in the Baltimore City Hall, and is currenlty on display in BWI airport.
