Growing professionally 2012-2015

2020 has been a unique experience to say the least. Spanning from 2015 to 2020 I've acted as the sole live artist for Marketing Arm and A Plus Staffing for their State Farm field activations.

My professional resources for gig procurement have exponentially produced both a higher volume and more esteemed opportunities from the induction of my career. Ex. Gigsalad, Thumbtack, Task Rabbit etc.

The business' utilization of technology has increased exponentially to remain current and competitive with alike businesses and service providers.

Furthermore digital marketing via social media engagement has bolstered business outreach.

In 2019 I saw bigger contracts with gigs. Demand was high and the overall consensus was that gigs were becoming more esteemed

Pro Bono 3

This collection includes several free mural that were done at the request of Patrick Grace, the owner of the Leadership Through Athletics recreational facility. I have aspirations of revamping a pre-existing mural that they already have in their larger gym. This would be potentially one of the initiatives that I would like to complete if chosen as this year's winner. Art is a vehicle, and I feel that it coincides with the the virtues of leadership. I want these works to not only inspire the budding athletes who grace the halls of this gym but also the emerging artists who may or may not know that art can have many applications and is virtually everywhere.

Pro Bono 2

I have combined my love for philanthropy and visual art. I've been able to use creativity as a vehicle to give back to the local community through art initiates. These initiatives;I have planned and co-coordinated with local community organizations and multi-million dollar industries. I landed a long-term contract with State Farm for face-painting and caricature work at sporting events and local community events. This opportunity also included a few 'pro-bono' events that were non-paid which were for the purpose of benefiting the local community. State Farm is an insurance company so the well being of it's patrons and potential customers is paramount to their success. I have a natural calling for positive community activism; so our motives were similar in the end. This year provided me with business exposure, monetary compensation but more importantly spiritual awakening. I established a strong connection with the marketing staff at State Farm and right now I have a manager who says that she will collaborate on any free initiative that I am able to organize. If given the chance I wish to create a multi-month schedule where several dates are designated for free art initiates. This could be a free mural or perhaps a fun day where I am providing face painting, caricatures or impromptu art lessons for kid's at local area schools and recreational centers. The grant would be used to pay myself or any secondary artist that may join me on an particular event. The experience would be at no cost to the schools or centers themselves. State Farm would potentially have tables where they have free snacks and bags full of State Farm premiums for the staff and children. Usually a mascot is also in tow as well. IF chosen I wish to create an experience that could potential extend beyond the duration that the contest outlines whereas State Farm has expressed it's interest in my talents and has stated an interest in using those skills to build it's brand and the local community. My versatility as an art and business man has allowed me an avenue that many do not possess.

Organized volunteer revitalization of sidewalk murals at the Royal Theater Memorial. I put together a team of fellow artists as a two part preparation for the Cadillac Parade organized by PARC (Pennsylvania Avenue Redevelopment Collaborative). Also there are pics from a free facepainting event sponsored by State Farm in Westport, Maryland at a local urban recreation center. I helped to organize the event with my manager at State Farm while also enlisting some other talent for the event. Finally a pro bono mural in Halethorpe, Maryland; for a sports center for the youth.

City Hall visit 2012

Invited to City Hall to speak on the progress of PARC (Pennsylvania Avenue Revitalization Coalition) of which I am the artistic director. The goal of this organization is to raise awareness of the history of Pennsylvania Avenue and to create cultural activities and programs to enrich the community of Upton.

BOPA Summer Art Sessions 2014

I worked as an art educator last year with BOPA and Bright Stars under the management of Mrs. Cassidy Hester; the program coordinator. I learned a lot from the experience and was able to further my professional resume with that opportunity. My coordination and planning skills were sharpened after this experience through the rigorous mandates of the 'Common Core' teaching standard. This was my introduction to the teaching standard in fact. The experience was a learning experience with high emphasis on strengthening one's skills of brevity and the utilization of discernment. My site was located at Bayview Elementary in Brooklyn, MD. This project is for the purpose of highlighting my local devotion to the upcoming youth of Baltimore. I was an educator for seven years after coming out of college and I'd like to think my efforts have shaped the lives of many artists locally.

BOPA 2014

Cash Hester; a mentor and community coordinator who was a very strong ally for BOPA during her tenure there. I learned alot from her instruction including the dreaded 'Common Core Curriculum'. As an artist I love being able to have so much versatility in my job. I work and create with so many professionals from all industries. Art is encompassing. I highlight this experience because it is one of my most cherished and prestigious opportunities.

Face Painting 2014-2015

This project is a collection of events; that I worked as a contracted face painter. I was hired by a marketing company to provide free artistic services to their patrons to promote their brands and or professional services. In short, I was used as a catalyst to generate leads. Also my caricature and face painting services have also been used by several special events companies in the area, for years. The list includes: Baltimore's Best LLC, Bubble's Productions LLC and Caricatures by Rick Wright LLC at Camden Yards. I say this to highlight the power of art as a vehicle for promotion and raising awareness. You folks here are more than aware of that fact. I seek to connect all of the resources that I have from these varying experiences to provide free special events in urban areas such as schools, recreational centers, and perhaps at a few festivals and/or community events. The objective does not have to necessarily have to involve the promotion of any entity or product either. I do know that such a scenario is ideal for many corporations that may wish to support the event while also promoting the brand. The amount of continuous work that I get from these companies alludes to the success of the sorts of events; that are centered around free art. I wish to devise a local tour doing events with face painting, caricatures, and perhaps some other services from some professionals that I know in the field if that is possible economically.

Custom Kicks

Custom 'Chuck Taylor' Converse shoes hand painted in acrylic. I like to vary my media and materials to attain the unknown. I included this collection as a project to highlight my versatility as an artist yet also to shine light upon my fascination with technique. My work today would suggest that my interest is solely invested in caricature and graphic art.

These flags should be hung outside so that the wind and natural elements will spread your good thoughts, fortunes, and prayers. Ideally they are hung on a windy day, but any day is a good day as long as it done with a clear and open heart. The natural elements will eventually take their toll on the flags and this is to reminds us of the impermanence of life. You can replace them with new ones and burn the old ones or let nature run its full course.
