Ed's profile

Ed Bisese is an artist who draws, paints and makes things to see what happens next. He lives in College Park, Maryland where he earned his MFA at UMD. He teaches drawing, painting, design and color theory at area colleges. Bisese’s welcoming teaching philosophy springs from a desire to share his fundamental love of creativity and its empowerment with everyone who has forgotten the freedom of an open mind.

Bisese has a degree in Landscape Architecture and is a registered professional Landscape Architect. His practice is mostly residential and includes commercial and institutional design. His thoughtful and careful design takes into consideration, weather, vegetation, landforms and structures to create beautiful, healthy, and livable environments.

Bisese exhibits his colorful and humorous work nationally and has shown in the DMV since 1980 as part of both Gallery K and Gallery Neptune. He has had one-person shows in museums and galleries and has happily participated in innumerable group exhibitions.

Bisese is currently working on a twelve part series of paintings that together describe a hero’s journey of imagined animal-man characters in colorful compositions. The large-scale paintings are made in acrylic on unstretched canvas and resemble sideshow banners.
