“During my past fifty years as a sculptor/teacher - eleven years at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma, and nearly thirty at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, Maryland, I fabricated sculptures with fire. Fire contributes the magic for pushing your fingerprints into wax, encapsulating it, melting out the wax, and pouring in the bronze, so that when you break the cocoon, a bouquet of bronze fingerprints emerges.
