I am fascinated by cities, old and new. Though my hometown, Baltimore, is a favorite subject, I have had opportunities to diversify the subject, ranging from the intense complexity and expanse of New York or Tokyo to the ancient ruins of Italy.

I have had the pleasure of visiting Italy several times.  As a painter I am drawn to its diverse landscapes, including its rugged mountains, its marvelous coastlines, and its abundance of ruins.

One cannot resist visiting (and revisiting) and painting the immense splendor and variety of the American southwest.

I have been studying artwork diverse in time and geography.  I expressed this initially by painting representations of ancient Roman sculpture an  frescoes of Renaissance Italy.  More recently, I also became fascinated with images of India, the far east and ancient America.  Eventually, the paintings of sculpture grew into more complex original arrangements composed in multi-media, including manipulated photographic prints from images of various cultures.

I had the great fortune of being selected as a resident of the Maryland Insitute College of Art Klots International Program for Artists, where I could commit to painting for entire month.   The Program provided an invaluable experience, as it allowed me to immerse myself in my work, to enjoy a fabulous part of France, and to extend a network of friendships with other artists.
