Palden's profile

Palden Hamilton was raised in Maryland, where he attended the Gilman School. He went on to receive his B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, after which he studied at the Art Students League of New York. There, he studied under Ron Sherr, Harvey Dinnerstein, and Mary Beth Mckenzie, and was awarded a Merit Award in Realism and the Phylis T. Mason Grant.

Upon returning to Maryland, Hamilton took on a range of portrait commissions. He was notably commissioned to paint Maestro Yuri Temirkanov, then director of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. His work has been awarded Certificates of Excellence from the Portrait Society of America in 2008, 20017, and 2018, and has been included in the Art Renewal Center's Salon in 2018 and 2019.

Hamilton has painted landscape extensively on location in Maryland, and on travels to his mother's homeland, the Himalayan Kingdom of Sikkim. As a landscape artist, he has participated and received honors from Easton, Wayne, and Cape Ann plein air events.

Hamilton has been an art instructor for over ten years, teaching at the Zoll Studio of Art, Chesapeake Fine Art Studio, and most recently at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA).
