Melanie's profile
Melanie Ruston is currently studying at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. She is majoring in General Fine Arts with a Concentration in Book Arts, and pursuing a Masters in Teaching. A native to Baltimore, Melanie will graduate with a BFA in Spring 2014. Her drawings, paintings, and books have culminated into a series of works that explore the language of the body through storytelling. Her experience working with children often informs her processes, which have extended to media such as book arts, weaving, and stage performance.
Her teaching experience has included an internship at the American Visionary Art Museum and volunteering for the Sunday Family Workshops at The Baltimore Museum of Art, as well as many summers as a lifeguard/camp counselor.
