A process based project utilizing photographic materials to create non-photographic images. The process entails sheets of darkroom printing paper, masked off and partially exposed to light, partially sanded with sand paper, then fixed in a hypo solution saturated with steel wool, frozen and thawed, and then copper toned. The resulting images are then scanned and cropped to create compositions, which are then digitally printed out and coated in a thin layer of epoxy resin to create a tangible viewing experience that one can hold and feel.
Since 2010, one of my primary and most active collaborations has been with the Max Eilbacher, Owen Gardner, and Sam Haberman in the quartet Horse Lords. We have composed, recorded, and released three seven albums, been commissioned by galleries, publications, and conservatories, toured internationally, and performed hundreds of concerts.
This project is the product of my love of the 1962 film Mary Poppins and for the Occupy Movement, my intent for this video was to explore the images as a tapestry.

Artists Statement

Mary Poppins exists in a mystical crack in the fabric of reality and blows into town when she is needed most…

For some time, I have been thinking about the ideological issues explored in Mary Poppins, my favorite movie as a child, and the Occupy movement, because at core each address similar issues.
Part of a multi series project utilizing found objects instead of traditional photography lenses to create images that challenge and redirect the generalized definitions we use to construct our realities.
I created “11 Time Paintings” by returning to shooting and editing techniques that I developed in earlier videos (“Barcelona Mosaics”, “Cicada Songs”, Mexico Painting”).  I think of my video art as painting in time.  “11 Time Paintings” presents a series of short visual music sketches produced utilizing a range of rhythmic editing techniques.
