Big Game(2017)

In this piece.I placed models and costumes into the virtual simulation I created through software. By designing the interactions of models, costumes and virtual space. I explore how do the invisible rules and common sense in modern society shape and influence people's perception and behavior. Why is it called Big Game? It doesn’t mean that people really play a game( but who knows if the world we exist in is a game or not?). This project uses the concept of game, that is, people need to follow the rules to enter the next level and keep the game running .

ImmortalGame(2018)

Immortal Game is a ongoing photo project. The full project can be viewed here: https://www.yuqiwang.net/immortal-game-1/. I placed different performers in various daily environment where people are familiar with. By interfering people’s social convention, recreating the behaviors people do repetitively in daily life, and designing the interaction between performers and the environment they exist in, I explore the perception and behavior of human beings and its relations with modern society.

Look Left and Look Right (2016)

In Look Left and Look Right, I placed the models in front of a changing color background and asked them to look left and look right, pretending they were attracted by things continually appearing around them. In this piece, I discussed the impact of the development of modern society, especially on the perspective of social media. The development of communication equipments and social media is so fast, like the appearance and update of iPhones, iPads, iWatches, Google, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr.

SUBWAY(2014)

It is a performance I did in, Subway line 1, it is the one of the busiest subway line in Beijing. I raised my arm in the platform and test the reaction of passengers. In this work, I thought about how the existing functional space affect changes people's perceptions and behaviors, and how do people react with variables in familiar spaces.

Big Game

BIG GAME Is the world we exist in a game? If so, who creates the game and manipulates us, such that we are willing to obey the rules? In a computer game we accomplish missions which are different from real life by manipulating the virtual figure - the virtual figure being a projection of ourselves. Human beings do similar daily routines generation after generation. This immortal procession is as epic as it is great; full of hope and desperation. I am led to wonder, in real life then, are we being projected? Who is manipulating us and getting the satisfaction?

Look Left and Look Right

It doesn't matter which direction model look at. The key point is the behavior of keeping looking, searching and accepting trivial information. Keep looking might have become a subconscious habit of us. It is not just a behavior which is limited on checking social medias, it is more like a inherent lifestyle, a thing that people keep doing in their whole life. I abstract this checking behavior into the movement of Look Left and Look Right and combine it with colorful and continuous changing background. At the same time, When models shake their heads, the pigtails will hit their faces.
