Gunson Roses is whatever Brad Gunson wants to do with the guitar, trombone, electronics, the camera, a projector, a computer, his voice, and his friends from telling jokes, to writing songs, to long exploratory improvisation, to rearranging his favorite popular songs, to performing the music of the Super Mario Brothers video games while audience members play the game on stage, to acting, to shooting music videos, to pouring syrup on pancakes. No style restrictions, no audience pandering, no rules about what can and shouldn't be done. Pure fun and indulgence. This is non-commercialism that rarely covers the cost of its own existence, but always inspires and challenges.

This project has produced several recordings including Gunson Roses (2009), Right Away (2010), Man Vs Band (2012), and Smothered and Covered (2014), Live at Joe Squared (2015), Fast and Loose (2016) and several upcoming albums, videos, and "other". The most recent projects include a short, surrealist, comedic, musical, documentary called "Baltimore By Storm" shot in June of 2016 (currently being edited) and a feature film adaptation of Homer's Odyssey and James Joyce's Ulysses, set in Baltimore (in place of Ithace, Greece) and throughout the United States.

This is a musical documentary including most of the music performed live at various Baltimore venues and some vintage arcade footage scored studio recordings.
  • Kashmir (live Led Zeppelin Cover)
A month or so after moving to moving to NYC, I scored a gig at a coffee shop downtown and got this instrumental arrangement of one of the more unique Led Zeppelin songs on camera. Rough and Lo-Fi, but fun... Video by Rosalie Gunson Ray Mason - Trombone Aaron Rockers - Trumpet Takehiro Shimizu - Drums
  • Together (from the album Man Vs Band)
This was the first song recorded for the album Man Vs Band with Tom Harold and Maeve Royce who have become the most regular players since the band came back from NYC. The tune is one of my most sincere as I'm attempting to take what should be a simple folk song, but is presented with a modulation in both meter and key and treated with extra modern rock improvisation. I spent a long time editing the video and discovered an interesting effect of layering with high contrast. Recorded by Christopher Todd Goodin in Ashburn, VA Mixing, Composition, Video - Brad Gunson Mastering - John Baldwin Nashville, TN
  • Family (from the album Man Vs Band)
This is a comic song about family that was released the day same sex couples could legally marry in the state of Maryland. Musically it was a chance to use a vocoder, which synthesizes the guitar and the human voice for a sort of robot-like sound. Recorded in Greenwich Village, NYC...
