Limitless

This Aerial Dance Duet was choreography by Nina Charity for the Intersections Festival at The Atlas Theater; a fundraiser for Zip Zap Circus. Zip Zap Circus is based out of Cape Town, South Africa and Washington, DC. They focus circus education on youth and use circus to teach life lessons, team work, and health education. This show was curated by Jonathan Deull, a well know rigger in the circus world. Zip Zap is close to Jonathan's heart because is daughter Sara would travel to Capetown every summer to train and work with Zip Zap.

This dance explores Aerial Silks as a dance instead of a circus apparatus and combines skills that were developed through exploration with Ann Berhends and my partner, the Aerial Silks. By viewing the Silks as your partner their a unlimited possibilities to the variations and timing of the movement. This is my love, my movement, and like the mind body connection in yoga this too will take me to "limitless" possibilities.

15 Steps

Nina choreographed this dance for the Intersection Festival at the Atlas Theater for the Zip Zap Circus benefit show in the spring of 2012.

The apparatus used was invented by Nina specifically for this show because it could hold all 6 dancers in the act. The basis of the dance was chaos and watching the unraveling come back together in the end. Dancers were Nina Charity, Kelly Jo Stull, Lauren Ross, Eleanor Hall, Grace O'Neill and Thomas Martin
