The Box Theory

The Box Theory is a poem that illustrates an artist staying true to himself and true to his art.. "No box can hold my sound..." They cant fit my style into a box, and I cant water down my rhymes because my rhymes are water. Em Sea Water exposes his true intention of poetry, "all my words come from my heart, not from the pad or the pen.." The Box Theory is from the album, Hydrology, released in 2007. The Whoopies EP

The Whoopies EP gracefully blends the soulful words of Baltimore based poet/rapper, Em Sea Water with the melodious sounds of Rural Pennsylvania based singer/guitarist, Nicole Zell. Their collaboration appears seamless on their light hearted single, "Two Words" and their breakthrough song "Love Letter" with Nicole Zell harmonizing alongside Em Sea Water's lyrics. Then, switching roles with Nicole Zell leading Water to back her up on the upbeat "Sunshine" while providing emotional balance on "Your Life is in My Hands" which speaks for the friend of someone contemplating suicide. The Whoopies EP effortlessly combines an indie rock style with hip hop swag on top of enchanting lyrics.

Based on the song by Wiz Khalifa "Black and Yellow." This was made for Maryland State students taking the upcoming MSA's or Maryland School Assessment Tests. Shot in two days with a Panasonic AG HVX200A, a Canon 7D, and the wonderful students at George Washington Elementary School in Baltimore, MD.

This musical Spoken Word CD is a melancholy mix of prose and poetry capturing the innermost moments of Em Sea Water's mind as if they were scattered through outer space, then magnetically pulled toward Neptune to perform together. Featuring R&B samples from 90's artists including Aaliyah, Mary J. Blige, Lauryn Hill, Zhane, and Erykah Badu, "Remembering Neptune" balances the rhythm of Hip Hop with the inflections and intellect of Spoken Word Poetry.
