Written by 15th century Sufi poet Kabir, the lyrics of “Unstruck Sound” are from a Sikh written by a Muslim (Sufi) poet. The poet describes having attained the ability to control the unsettled mind and relinquish unnecessary, impressionable emotions from the heart and finding satisfaction within the soul. The piece demonstrates how religions can not only tolerate (and accept) one another but also collaborate, which remains poignant in light of, not only Hindu-Muslim-Sikh conflict throughout history, but religious tension and politics in the west and throughout the world.
