underWater ◦ from the Upton Mansion to the Peabody Institute
Block title
Description
The augmented reality (AR) app underWater work sample demonstrates a new media piece with newly digitized recordings from the Arthur Friedman Library. The AR app uses a phone to place viewers at the bottom of the ocean. After a time, an animated ship passes overhead, in reference to the claim that David Stewart (the first owner of the Upton Mansion) watched ships arrive into Baltimore’s Harbor from his third floor window. A 1949 recital from students at the Baltimore Institute of Musical Arts plays as the ship sails overhead.
