Wanting to utilize the existing holes in the rim to cast more refracted light from the sides of the lamp, I discovered that I had exactly two more of the largest octagonal crystals than the number of holes to fill, and that they were just the right size to make them work in the oddly-shaped openings and still be sturdily attached.
