The second version of the lamp is shown here in a free-standing position, and while the width of the wheel is enough to provide sufficient stability, due to the nature of a wheel's tendency to roll, it is best placed in a corner or other less-trafficked area with some additional form of support. The chain and included cord are easily removed, and the lamp can be plugged directly into a common household extension cord from behind the hub on the reverse side.
