Reservoir Interchange Walking Tour - Druid Lake Dam
Druid Hill Reservoir Interchange explored the overlapping embankments and sidewalks to nowhere between the Jones Falls Expressway and the Druid Hill Park Reservoir. The tour focused on the history of the the park, the absurd and challenging impacts of surrounding highways, and background on the current reservoir construction project. Along the way, we also shared about a community movement afoot supporting pedestrian safety improvements such as traffic calming along Druid Park Lake Drive and Auchentoroly Terrace, better accessibility for the disabled, and protected bicycle lanes safely connecting Reservoir Hill with Remington. Guest speaker Jim Brown spoke about the Baltimore Greenway Trails Network vision to create a 35 mile loop of multiuse trails around the city. Participants were also provided the opportunity to sign up for action alerts about forthcoming advocacy supporting a complete streets vision for improving pedestrian and bicycle access between Druid Hill Park and adjacent neighborhoods.
