"Jo, Jon Floating on Jonah's Whale" pictures a young girl sleeping atop a young man, who sleeps atop a blue eyed whale. The magical dreams, and lurking monsters pervade the tranquil scene. Ragain's responsive poem, "Contents of the Whale's Belly, Grounded Off Race Point...June 2003" concentrates on the whale," no longer the leviathan, the Lord's shaker of the underworld. He has been claimed by the tiny ones...He is stranded in the sand walker's world, holding, held, sinking deeper with each small breath." The tiny ones sink the leviathan.
