GOLEM XIV (2019) By Stephen Hendee Gottlieb Flip-A-Card (1970), Paint, Acrylic, Mirrored Glass 29"x76"x56" This project honors the literary Science Fiction writer Stanislaw Lem, inspired by a story within the book IMAGINARY MAGNITUDE (1985), a collection of introductions to books that do not exist. GOLEM XIV depicts the creation, cognitive self-awareness and Mysterious disappearance of a powerful artificial intelligence that becomes a prominent philosophical critic of humankind.
